Billy Reid has finally come to DC! I previously wrote about the Louisiana-born, Alabama-based designer here, and am so excited that it no longer requires a road trip to check out his designs in person. And to celebrate the DC opening, the designer himself was on hand this Thursday to welcome visitors to his latest outpost.
In addition to sipping on cocktails made with Bulleit Bourbon (my favorite) and eating the most deliciously fresh oysters, I actually got to talk to Billy for a few minutes and can honestly say that not only is he talented, but charming and gracious. It’s always nice when you meet “big time” folks that remain down to earth.
And of course I checked out the clothes, most of which are made in the USA. I love these ladies’ shorts and can see frolicking in them all summer. The designer offers a crop of white button downs that would pair perfectly with them, too.
There was also plenty of stylish menswear on hand, in ruggedly fine material like heirloom cotton and linen. And don’t get me started on the leather used for the shoes — perfection.
All in all, it was a great night. Not least because the DC-area has now seriously stepped up its sartorial game.
Happy hunting!
